Spare tire S70 2000

the car has 205 55 16 tire, and spare is 15 inch rim, much smaller. Is this normal. In my 960 the thin spare is about the same diameter.

    Spare tire S70 2000

A full size spare will fit. Or, correction, some 205 55 16s will fit, Dunlop SP5000s certainly. A new Michelin Pilot AS will not fit, although it may after it's worn enough.

FWIW, the E90 BMW doesn't have a spare of any sort, or even any space for a spare.

Most new BMWs have the 'run-flat' tires S70 2000

Therefore, no spare is included. That way, you have to go to a dealer after you get a flat and:
      1. Be told that the run-flats can't be remounted because of stress and fatigue
      2. Wait for him to order the unique size
      3. Have it installed there
      4. Pay a serious amount of money
      5. Have limited choice of replacements in your car's size
      6. Out up with just another electronic gadget in your car, the mandated tire-pressure monitoring system. I suppose this is required because of the morons who would drive the car indefinitely on tires without air because they thought their tires were intended to do that.

    Spare tire S70 2000

Doesn't give you a warm and fuzzy feeling, does it? Welcome to the land of the space saver tire, better known as a cheap piece of junk to give the car companies a better profit margin.
Use it sparingly, if at all. You will find that a tire and rim combination that is already mounted on your car fits into the spare tire well. Shop for a new wheel and tire, and then sell the space saver.

Spare tire - which size fits? S70 2000

Will the full-size 15-inch wheel fit, but only some of the 16 inch ones, depending on which tire is mounted?

Spare tire - which size fits? S70 2000

Correct. Some will fit and the best thing to do is try one of your own wheels when you are rotating tires. The 15 inch steel wheel is an easy fit, and depending on size, will have the same height as your 16/17 inch wheels. But, then you have to worry about different lug nut sizes...
Get towing insurance and/or AAA, throw the spare away (if you have AWD) and carry a cell phone. That creates a handy place to store a pump and gunk sealer if it is a slow leak.

          Sorry, I was unclear. 15-inch alloy wheel S70 2000

My car has the stock 15-inch alloy wheels with 6 spokes. Will those fit in the wheel well with mounted tires? As soon as it gets a bit warmer, I'll jack up the car and try placing one of them in the wheel well and check. Then I can buy a 5th alloy wheel and spare.

      Spare tire S70 2000

I have an S70 ('98) and the full size spare (205/55/16) I put on another Perfo wheel to match my other wheels ALMOST fits in my spare wheel well. I still make it work although it lifts the trunk floor about an inch. Still, much better than a donut tire. At least this way I don't have to worry about a flat tire miles from home on a Sunday afternoon (which happened once several years ago in our 850- that was what prompted me to promptly change the donut out to a real tire when I bought this S70).
