iPod factory radio interface, need feedback V70-XC70 2004

I am interested in installing an iPod adapter interface kit in both my 04 V70 (with Nav) and my 04 C70. IPD sells kits that fit both ($189 and $179). The install on the C70 is likely easy as I have pulled these radios before and it is a breeze. How about the install on the 04 V70? Does this radio come out without damaging the console molding, etc? I assume that this does not deactivate the factory indash CD players in both cars, correct? Will the iPod charge while playing? Anyone done this who can offer feedback? Do you like the final functionality?
Thank you

You may want to try out the iMiv ipod adapter for Volvo. See these forums also.

The iMiv adapter is far superior to volvo or ipd ipod adapters with playlists and what not. Plus if you have a compatible headunit(sirius satellite compatible I think) you can actually get track/artist info on head unit. This is done by upgrading the firmware(from their website) via your ipod. How cool is that ?
Did I mention it can play video through your Nav Screen too ????

I have the Volvo OE kit in my 2004 XC 70 and it works great, the iPod charges and plays through the car radio, you can control it with the radio and steering controls. Only it does not do is display the song. All in all I am pleased.

This is sort of a general response. I was looking to do the same thing on my 98 and I found "crutchfield" to have a good selection and very good instructions. I bought from them before and the support material was a big plus. The site brakes down which one charge and what ones don't. their site may answer some of your questions.
