Heater control panel illumination. 850

'95 850 GLT, standard heater. How do you access the bulbs in the panel?
Thanks,
Jeff

Klaus, I found an easier way. Remove the knobs, take out the two screws and the cover plate comes off, leaving the control in the dash. Little spring clips to remove the circuit board and access the bulbs. Piece of cake.

Just push the control unit out, after pulling the radio out. No need to disconnect the radio.
Once the control unit is out, unplug it, and take it to a work bench and take the front cover off. The bulbs will be visible.

No tools required for the radio or the control panel. The radio front has to vertical tabs. Push them in and let them pop out. Then pull on the tabs and pull the radio straight out. Just balance it on the shift knob.
The heater control pulls straight out, with a little effort :) When I did mine the first time it almost fell on the floor! When it comes loose, it comes loose.
With the control panel out, put the radio back in. Pushing the tabs back into position locks the radio in place.

Yes it's very easy to pull the radio out just push the tabs on each side of the radio in and let them pop out a pull lightly.

Thanks again, Klaus. The radio came out as advertised, but no joy on the heater control. It's too cold to be tugging very hard on the plastic right now. I'll save it for warmer weather.
