Well, folks, Thought this would be an easy and low cost job... adding mud flaps at all four corners. Local dealer wanted $230 for the set of four, got all of them from the local Indie for $75... go figure.
Installing the fronts were easy, remove wheels, drill out three lousy rivets, slap the new mud flaps up there and install the provided new rivets... all is good, great and cool. One error though on the instructions, it indicates that you should crank the lug nuts to 85 foot pounds. This might be right for a 2000 XC, but the 2006 according to the owners manual runs 103 foot pounds! BTW, the lug bolts came off the car at 103 foot pounds!
The rears went quite the same way, however, when wedging the mud flaps between the fender liner and the bumper, nothing seemed to line up! after forcing the new rivets into the holes, everything looked great and no problems were found. The easiest way would have been to slap the mud flaps on outside of the fender liner, as everything lined up perfectly, but it wouldn't have been right. Seriously, installing the rear flaps between the fender liner and bumper is correct, it takes work to line up the holes properly, but it is worth it!
Although the rear flaps were a "b**ch", they lined up great once done. The result is a factory perfect installation.
Pain in the butt job, but well worth it!
