1999 c70 C70

I'm looking at getting a 1999 C70 with about 75k in mileage on it. Top and body areperfect shape. According to owner was father's car who passed away this year and she has complete paperwork on the vehicle. Any ideas as to what else I should look for or ask? I currently have an 97 850 t5 with 181k miles on it and have no probs except some wheel joint work.

Pretty much the same thing you would look for on your 850. Biggest difference is that this car has an electronic throttle module (etm) which is known to go bad, but Volvo has extended its warranty to 10 years or 200k miles, so that should be no problem. If it hasn't already had the etm software upgrade (free from dealer), make sure you get this- it helps extend the life of the etm and most of those who have had it say the car drives better with more power. Good luck! Nice car!

1999 c70 - nice car C70

The C70 is a really elegant car, in my opinion. The engine and other mechanicals are very similar to the 1999 S70 and V70, so read the archives to learn about potential problems and what to expect. However, you have one extra complexity: the folding roof and the complicated electronics that control the windows up/down and the fold cycle. I have no information on whether this has been trouble or not. As for buying a used one, think of the real estate people who say, "location, location, location." In this case, it is, "CONDITION, CONDITION, CONDITION." This was an expensive car when new, and I suspect that repairs could also be pricey. If the one you are interested in looks at all, even a little bit, like it was neglected, I suggest you walk away. Good luck, and please let us know if you buy it.
