Potential Purchase: 94 or 97 850?

Hi
Just had a call from friend who is going to look a couple of 850`s tomorrow. He`s had Volvo`s in the past but RWD`s.
Question; are there any specific issues for either of those years beyond the usual 850 "stuff"?
Thanks,
Rich

I too, like the OBDII reader under the hood for 94 and 95.
The 97 has a better tranny. Remember to check the tranny fluid.

Could be the `94

Hi KLaus,
My buddy called back last nite, the 97 was sold.
He`s going to look at the 94 today; it`s a one owner who bought it at the dealer & it`s been serviced there. He has all records & told my friend that he was welcome to go the dealer to check the records & car.
The car has 124K, it`s N/A with a 5 spd manual, new clutch 2 yrs ago. THe price is kinda` high-$8200 CDN but as my friend said "If it checks out clean maybe it`s worth a little extra". Of course, he`s not going to offer the seller what he`s asking. Thought he`d start a $7000 & see what response he gets.
Thanks,
Rich

concerning the years - I find the user interface to the computer (button and LED under the hood)on the '95 ('94 also) very useful for reading and resetting the frequent warning light (check engine, etc) codes. Maybe you can get a handheld device to do this in the later (eg '97) cars.
