The electronic throttle fiasco continues. I wonder why it has taken Volvo so long to deal with this problem ?????

Volvo Cars NA Recall - why so long to respond

Because they are cheap slimeballs and they hoped that the issue would go away or that customers would fold up and quietly buy the replacement part. This proves why we DO need government agencies to serve as our advocates in circumstaces like this where a large corporation denies any problem.

Finally it's public, but for owners who have had the ETM issue it is actually old news. For several months now (actually since March when the new software became available), Volvo has been "quietly" doing the upgrade on all cars that come into their service departments (even if it's for other things). Now that it's official, anyone with these car numbers should take their car in for the free service. Most have had very good outcomes with the new software. Of course, it won't keep the ETM from eventually dying but it will prolong their life.

I haven't had the ETM issue yet, but I am getting a P1618 Code which states "Output Speed Sensor" Took it to the mechanic yesterday, he ordered a Vehicle Speed Sensor that should be here Tuesday. I'll be taking it to the Stealership soon to get the upgrade.
