While we're at it. . . does anybody have tire recommendations. I need two new ones. looking for regular all season tires. planning on going to a discount place like "Big O" tires.

1994 850 Sedan with ~115,000

Thanks,

Alex

I was very happy with the Sumitomo HTR H4s we put on our '96 850 before selling it. Only $49 each from tirerack.com. Another good choice are the Yoko Avid H4S, which we have on an Accord right now. The Yokos seem a little crisper handling, but also have noticeably higher road noise. A trade off.

For a $50 tire the Sumitomo is a real bargain.

One brand I will not get again are Continentals. The last set we had needed constant rebalancing. I didn't have that problem with the Sumitomo or Yokohama tires.

Yokohama Avid 850

I have been running these tires for years, both on the V70 and on a Camry. Decent wear, good ride and feel, and better grip than anything else I've driven in the price range. All season tires are a compromise, and I think that the Yokahama is a good one.

Yep, I've been using Yokohamas (sp?) since I got the 850 in October '05. Very good tread wear, ride, handling/grip. At least as good, in my opinion, as the Michelins I'd been running on my RWD Volvos. Good tire, great price. Chris

I Like my Falkens from Sears. They made the ride a little softer from previous. And the wheel protective lip is nice. Good luck the choices seem daunting.

There are so many good tires out there. Spend a little time on Tirerack.com and discounttiredirect.com and you'll know more than you could ever need to know. My only rule is not to buy Michelin - nothing really wrong with them but they are horribly overpriced.

I've always had good, consistent results with Michelins. Anything else is a bit of a gamble, IMHO. The best part is almost never having to re-balance the tires.

We've had just about every tire on our Volvo's. By far, our favorite was and still is the Bridgestone Turanza LS-H and LS-V's. Look at and read the ratings at the rack...good stuff...great folks to deal with and they'll ship to your door or drop ship to many tire shops that contract with them...could be one near you.
