850 ECU Failure 850 1994

Hi All:

I drove my old Volvo to work last Wed. and the car ran fine as always. After work, car would not start at all and fuel pump sound was missing. Fuel pump was replaced at dealer a few years ago and only has 30,000 miles on it. I plugged the diagnostic lead into the number two position, and pushed the button once to get the error codes, but the light just lights up and gets dim. No flashing or anything. Car has a brand new battery as well.

Any ideas?

Thx. Gwen.

If you don't hear the fuel pump when you turn the key, it is either the fuel pump relay (under the fuses, #103) or a blown fuse.

Thanks Klaus:

Got car back from dealer today with a 350.00 dollar bill. Technician said that a wire from the fule pump relay to the ECU had corroded and the circuit was open. He had to run a new wire.

You were close.
