850 Platinum Edition 850 1996

Does anyone have any kind of documentation or sales literature on the 1996 850 Platinum Edition? I've heard that the P.E. wagons were only produced in small quantity and are fairly rare.

Google is your friend:

"1996 Volvo 850: Following up on the popular T-5R sport sedans offered in spring '95, Volvo adds another new sporty version for the fall--a Platinum Limited Edition 850 sedan and wagon. Only about 1500 are imported for the fall, equipped with the 222-horsepower turbocharged engine, leather seats, and 16-inch wheels as the T-5R; but Volvo replaced the yellow paint with a metallic "pearl white platinum.""

and this:

"Here's the standard platinum package: eight-way adjustable seats for driver and front-seat passenger, with memory presets; remote keyless entry system; power sliding/tilting sunroof; burled walnut trim and leather upholstery; eight-speaker, 160-watt stereo/cassette with compact disc player and trunk-mounted changer; heated front seats; headlamp wiper/washer system; trip computer; dual electronic automatic climate control; and, traction-control system."

850 Platinum Edition 850 1996

Hi there,

From what I remember they were essentially a regular 850T with pearl paint and a few more options. Nothing to get excited about.
