I just bought a 2003 v70 and I think it has an autodim rearview mirror but it doesn't work or I do't have one.
How can you tell if you do have one?
The reason I think I do is that it has a wire harness going into it through the back, and it has two little 'holes' on the front top.

    if it has a small push button on the bottom its probibly an autodim. that turns it on and of. if it has a lever that moves forward and back, its a regular.

    If it is an auto, when its on it will have a small green light on the front. the first thing i'd check if you do have an auto is if its turned off.

    My wife often turns ours off my mistake when she's adjusting it.

      I've got '01 V70 with autodim mirror, however there's no on/off button and never was. There a square hole about 3x3mm on the on the mirror bottom in the middle with no apparrent use. ;-)

      This is also not the case, no green light... whichever side is "front".

      Just to add to what stormtrooper said, both mirrors have wiring harnesses, as both are actually control units. Uppper electronic module is what Volvo calls them. They act as the reciever for the remote locking and control dome liight and sunroof operation. So, autodim or not, it ain't just a mirror anymore.

        I have a US 2003 V70 T5 it has auto dim no button or green light. it has a seatbelt warning light on it, and a couple light sensors on the front side. (mirror side)

        If you are wondering if it works or not. Park a car with it's head lights on about 4-5 car lengths behind you. sit in the driver seat of the V70 look in the mirror at the lights behind you, then look through the rearview mirror and compair. (remember if you have tinted window's that will dim the incoming light as well) I can definitely tell mine is working, but that is mainly do to my other car not having autodim or tinted windows.
