Service Reminder S40-V40 2001

Hello!
Is there a way to reset the Service Reminder light? The owner's manual says that I need to bring it to the dealer to get it reset every 12 months or 750 hours of driving.

Thanks for your help!

sam

I know this works for a '03 S/V40. Might be the same for your car, so give it a try:

1, Hold down the odometer button

2, Turn the ignition so all the lights come on

3, Keep holding the odometer down for 30 secs or until the service light starts flashing

4, Release the odometer button while service light flashing

5, Turn key off and then on again to check to see if the service light is off.

Service Reminder S40-V40 2001

Note that the early 16V non-turbo model which was not available in the US (i.e. not OBD2 compliant) used a Fenix ECU which can be reset only by Volvo. There is no other way, unless you have the exact same software as what Volvo uses. The ECU has a propriatory protocol. There is one aftermarket software I've found that claims to work, but it is very expensive and does has limited functionality on the Fenix ECU (basically just read and clear error codes, no adjustments).

Also, on Fenix it is important to reset the service indicator as this also triggers an auto calibrate mode and retunes the engine over the following few 100km. Not sure about the later ECUs if they do the same, but I suspect so.

Hi!

The whole process took me about a minute. You saved me about 45 minutes trip to the dealer and you save me about $20.00 as well.
Thank you :}
