Cruise Control Doesn't Work on S70 S70 1998

The cruise control on my 1998 S70 does not work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    ABS light ON?
    If you still have the original ABS unit most likely it is defective now, once you start getting the ABS light, the cruise control stops working.

    I'd check the continuity of the vacuum line first, then consider the cruise relay as well. I speak from limited, but direct experience with the 850 cruise.

    2 things to look at first. There is a switch at the brake peddle which releases vacuum. Sometimes you might be able to bend the bracket 1 mm closer to make up for wear.
    Check the vacuum lines under the battery tray for cracks. Any loss of vacuum pressure will turn the CC off.

      Can also be the vacuum pump itself. I do not like these cruise controls as well as the seven and nine series. They were quick. Mine is slow although somewhat better as there was slop in the throttle linkage. Also the linkage is prone to slop near the bellows connecting to the actual throttle.

      Anyone else experience the slow response problem?

        I once owned an Audi 5000s, and when I hit the resume after a tool both, it was "hang on for dear life" because the car really needed to get back to 75 ASAP!! This car will not down shift gears from 35-75 and sloooowly get back to cruising speed.
        You are correct when you said the response is slow, but I like it better than kicking in all 247bhp to get back to cruise speed.

          Thanks for the input. I will tighten up a couple more things and that will be about all than can be done. These cars also only have one vacuum source while I believe the 7-9 series have two plus the direct bellows attatchment to the throttle valve.

          Off to Branson later in the week for a USMC reunion, so should be ready to roll soon.
