850 Front Shocks 850

Gang,
Need to change the spring seats on the front end of my 95 850. Anyone have experience with the 4 sided nut that fits on the top of the shock? Should I bother to buy the IPD special wrench for this or would I be wasting the $20+ bucks.

Thanks

I just replaced my front struts and spring seats last summer. Used a pipe wrench (medium sized) on the X nut--worked fine.

You can...makes life easier, but many here just use an adjustable pipe wrench for that.

      Made,

I agree about the pipe wrench but only if we are talking about a 240/740/940. Used that method many times. But on the 850 the nut is not pipe wrench size.
