Free ETM upgrade? V70-XC70 1999

Hello and Good Morning BB.

I saw it mentioned in one of the more recent posts something about a "free ETM computer upgrade". My V-70 with 96K miles has not (yet) had any ETM issues, but I was unaware that there Volvo was offerring an ETM upgrade. Whats it all about?

Thanks,

Marty Wolfson

Yes, a great site, but not much info there on the software upgrade for the ETM. I recommend this site...personal accounts of the upgrade and what it did/didn't do for the person: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/ETM-Software-Update-Performed-t45901.html

I got a notice of a recall for a headlight switch for my 99 V70. When I took it in, I was told I would also get an ignition upgrade, reprogramming I think. It's my wife's car, so I can't claim to notice any change in drivability. And I don't know if this upgrade corrects the ignition failure suffered by many of our cars. You might check with the dealer to see if your car qualifies.

There is a great deal of information that has been shared on this subject in recent months. In short, Volvo will upgrade the software to reduce the dithering that was causing early failure of the Morelli produced flex circuit. See your dealer and request the software download.
This site has done a decent job of logging related information.
