Hi All

I would like to know where about on my '96 850 R where I can check the error codes. I noticed on ozbrick (http://au.geocities.com/ozbrick850/computercodesvolvo.html#instructions) there is a red LED you can check the codes. I cannot find this on my car. Do i need a scan tool to be able to read the codes or am I not looking in the right place for the LED?

I don't believe the 96 is OBDII. I think 1997 was hte first year.

'96 was as well...you have to get dealer to reset service reminder light or use a Draper or other OBD-II code tool, like the one IPD sells.

Scan tool (OBD-II such as the Equus Innova 3100, 3030, etc.) It plugs into the connector under the coin holder on your car.

Looks very nice, but the thing that worries me is that the auction description doesn't mention anything about resetting the codes. You'll need to be able to do that. So my suggestion is to click on "ask seller a question" and ask him if this software will do that. If it will, they yeah, it's fine. Remember though that you'll have to carry your PC with you when you go places. One reason I like a hand held sort of scan tool, but that's up to you as an individual and what you want to do. The PCMSCAN evidently will tell you a whole lot more than a scan tool...such as your timing, air intake, 02sensor health, etc.
