groaning when wheel turned all the way to the right S60 2003

my 4 year old s60 started developing this groaning sound/noise whenever the wheels are turned all the way to the right. no such sound when turned to the left. any ideas what this could be due to? i noticed also that steering has been kind of "loose" or wiggly at low speed.

thanks in advance

May be wrong but with older cars (850's and my S70) there are steering stops made of plastic on the steering nobs (turn your wheels all the way and look close to the wheels and control arms). These are greased but when they dry out, at full cock they will make noise. Simply greasing them up solves this problem. Yours may be the same. If so, then a simple repair. Don't know about the loose feeling you're having unless you have some worn suspension parts.
