Yellow Green fluid dripping from front end (passenger side)

Hello,

I tried to trace the source and it seems to be a cylindrical thing located just under the power steering reservoir. It seems rotted at the bottom. Is this what the service rep was referring to --- the A/C receiver dryer being rotted? Will it cause any further damage if I keep driving the car with A/C on? So far the A/C is blowing cold air.

TIA

The dye used for detecting leaks in AC systems is yellow and shows up very bright under UV light. Touching this dye with your finger will leave a clue, it is very hard to wash off.
Coolant for your engine is yellow/green, not as bright as AC dye, and washes off easily with plain water. The coolant reservoir is directly above the drier and if it leaks, will drip all over the drier. The aluminum drier will get pitted from road salt, but seldom to the point where it will leak r134a all over. Besides, r134a is a gas, not a liquid, when exposed to zero pressure.
Check the coolant line from the bottle to the radiator hose with a paper towel and see if it is wet.

      Klaus,

I tried to find the source to no avail. Anyway, I had the car in for its regular LOF and had the dripping fluid checked. He said it was the dye that was added previously in the cooling system and was leaking from the rotted dryer. I still get cold air blowing!

I've been out of touch for a week... If the dye is leaking out of the reciever/dryer where the connections are, then you are going to loose r134a real soon and have a warm ac. I have NEVER seen a r/d pitted so much that it would actually leak gas.

Must be a slow leak. Did they check your A/C pressure? Eventually you will notice lack of cold and/or a constant clicking of your compressor due to not enough gas. Get yourself prepared to have the receiver/drier replaced.

If the A/C is blowing cold air, then I would not supect the receiver/dryer rotting out...if it does, you lose your gas and no more A/C. I would suspect your radiator fluid. Is there any in your expansion tank? It's the clear, plastic reservoir up against the passenger's side fender, under the hood.
