1997 850 GLT Blower Motor - Should I Try Replacing Myself? 850

I have a blower motor that has all but seized up - makes a terrible low pitch growling sound with any fan volume - shakes the whole dash. I'm pretty sure it's the blower motor as the symptoms stop as soon as I manually turn off the fan. I've been poring through this site looking for clues on how tough a job this for a DIY. I can find a blower motor/fan unit for a good price online. I am reasonably mechanical - the extent of my repair efforts include replacing the ABS module, but I don't know how difficult/time consuming the blower motor replacement job is on my 850.

Would appreciate any wise counsel including repair tips. Do I need to worry about the passenger side air bags for example? Bids for a mechanic repair are ranging from $350 - $500. I figure if I can do the whole job in less than 2 hours plus part cost I will be money way ahead.

Thanks in advance...
