My gas door seems to be stuck closed?!? I began looking for the latch to flip by the drivers seat but remebered that there is none!!!!Just had enough gas to get home! Am I going batty? There seems to be a bracket attached to the door at a right angle with a hole drilled in it and a cylinder that comes from the rear panel the "locks" the door??? Sorry for such a lame question I am just stumped.

I had the same problem happen a in June.

Go to the right rear (passenger side) of your trunk. Open the tailight bulb repalcement door. On the rear wall (near where the gas filler door is located) you should see a white plastic ring attached to a white string. Pull it and your gas filler door while release.

I am debating whether to fix this (without instructions anywhere to be found) or simply break off the latch on the filler door and have a non-locking but closable gas filler door.

Volvo should have put(but did not) this in the owner's manual. I believe I found this in the Bay 13 Website.

Mine was stuck closed too but wasn't the motor. Some spray on the hinges every 6 months or so keeps it working again.

Loosen or take off the right rear panel in the trunk and there is a metal rod to pull to open the filler door.
Sounds like the motor stopped working.
Pop the door, then drive to the gas station.
