It was running fine when I brought it in. When I got it home, there was oil under the car and the third cylinder wasn't firing. The oil cap was stripped and the filter was in incorrectly.

I sunk another $450 into repairing the engine...new plugs, wires, rotor, distributor cap, cleanup, new filter etc. Everything was fine for about a week and now the engine light is on again.

Also had Jiffy lube do a tranny flush, and now the shifting seems rough.

Yes, I am suing.

Any idea what damage might have been done with a loose oil cap?

Remove the plastic cover over the spark plug area, you will probably find spilled oil under it.

WOW! You could almost write a novel on this! One thing in your favor is that the 850 holds 6 qts of oil (provided they put in 6 qts) so I'd guess if you found the problem right away you probably didn't run it low enough to damage it. When they were screwing around under the hood they may have knocked a vacuum line(s) off or if they "checked" the air cleaner filter may have damaged the intake hose to the throttle body. As MIJ pointed out, wonder what type ATF they used and if they got it full. May check the dipstick for foam. Good luck with your suit. They seem to have screwed you royally.

Not much on the oil cap unless you're talking about the "plug." I would be concerned with the loss of oil and what that might have done to your car. Also, why a problem with a misfiring cylinder? Did they change plugs too? Tranny flush...how did they do it and what ATF did they use?

I guess you miss the tv program where they had sting operations on diffirent Jiffy Lube stations. They caught them stealing from their customers by offering services that was not needed nor performed.
