Dash temp display? Can it be calibrated? V70-XC70 1999

My dash display for ambient temp is often high. It runs 10-20 degrees too high. Can it be calibrated? Or do I need a new sensor. The speedo and odo are so right on that I'm spoiled for perfection. Also, it would be nice if it was close. What should I do?

I don't think the sensor can be calibrated, but the location is pretty poor. In hot weather, there is no air flow directly across the sensor and it will read high when the mount gets warm. I have seen mine hit 106F when it is only 97F AND I am going 75mph on the interstate!
One of these days I am going to move it, but it is not on my priority list.

Do you have pixs of the senor. I can't find mine. What type of wiring harness does it connect to? Thanks!

Thanks a lot! I had to go look at my 98 to verify it's position. Remember, Volvo tends to move things from year to year. On my car it is directly infront of the driver, below the headlight, stuck into the sub frame. It has two wires, one green and one black. In it's current location, it can catch air from the radiator.
It pulls out of its hole easily and then disconnects from the wiring. Before I plug mine back in, I am going to look around for another hole or perhaps just drill a new hole in the lower part of the air dam.
