Exhaust leak? 850

I've noticed that my ' 97 850 seems to be getting louder when under acceleration. I can hear that sound especially when going uphill with the windows rolled down. It sounds like a light metallic ticking sound. I suspect an exhaust leak closer to the front of the car. Has anyone had this happen? Any certain spots I should check?

Thanks in advance.
Dave

Because the exhaust is a one piece design, the clamp behind the cat is the usual suspect. Both of mine do this and is not a problem, it only happens when I give it lots of gas. There is NO gasket and the metal to metal clamp is not the best design.

One test that I have seen muffler shops use is to stuff a rag into the end of the exhaust and see if you can see where the exhaust is diverted.

My pipe is cracking around that clamp Klaus refers to. Right by where they flange it. I might try to weld it with my tig.

If that is one of those electric welders, make sure you disconnect the battery first!
The bolts on the clamp get very rusty, PB Blaster reccomended before trying to undo them. Mine snapped right off with just a little torque. The dealer didn't charge me too much for new screws.
