S60 2.5T 2006 oil and oil filter change (& checking transmission fluid level) S60

Our 2006 2.5T S60 uses a paper oil filter (a first for us) and I am wondering whether/where there is a website or post that shows how the oil and oil filter are changed in such a car.

Also, how can we check the transmission fluid level in this car? There is no apparent way of doing it from the top of the engine.

This tool makes removing the plastic canister much easier. I'm not sure you could even do it without the tool...

The transmission dip stick is located just right of center when you open your hood, burried way down below all of the large diameter turbo pipes. It is hard to get to, much less to see without pushing and pulling these hoses out of the way. You check the level after you've driven the car at least for 15 minutes. You want to check the hot level with the car running and idling. Shift through all of your gears with your foot on the brake, stopping at each gear for a few seconds and then putting it in park and then pull the stick. On our V70 the dip stick was very tight...almost like it was glued in. I had to twist and pull to get it out. So, you might want to make sure it's loose enough to get out first before you go to all the trouble above.

The oil filters are sold at www.fcpgroton.com. Make sure you get a aluminum washer for your drain plug too. A good site with instructions is here (If I recall correctly, I believe it's the same as an S80 oil change): http://www.volvospeed.com/s80oil.php
