My reclining position on the drivers seat is stuck, I can hear the motor but no responds. This happened once before and I paid $250 to fix it. Is there a way for me to repair this thing?

I did both sides of a '95 850. Bought replacement cables, and hog ring pliers. It was straight forward, but I was a little nervous about the SIPS air bags. But under the seat control covers I found a plastic bushing that could be placed over the SIPS actuator that would keep it from being depressed accidentally.

There are some instructions somewhere about shortening the existing cable sheath, instead of replacing the cable. And then using nylon cable ties to put the seat back together. This would have an out of pocket expense of about $0.

Shortening of the sheath can be a good idea as the originally supplied cable can pull out of the motor shaft spline even if not defective. It is for this reason that I shortened my shroud instead of replacing the cable. I don't know if replacement cables now being supplied have a different shroud design that would keep the shaft in place. I would hate to buy a new one only to have it fall out down the road.

I am working on it, it's not easy but I have time!!
However, I finally fixed my windshield wiper with ksq's help!
