OK, I'll admit I'm ignorant...

Did all 1996 850's (or in my case an 855T) have pollen filters? Where would I find it and access it?

I like to do my bricks once a year, just after pollen season is over.

That way the AC gets the best of the filter.

We have three 850s, so I but 6 at a time, I hose the parts guy a bit and usually get a decent discount.

Hard to say. All depends on how much dust you drive thru and how much you use the recirc feature. If recirc is always on you're not using the filter at all and it probably won't get very dirty. You really should use it every once in a while though to keep it dried out and prevent mold from growing.

In VA, I do mine twice a year which is probably overkill but it sure looks moldy and nasty. I saw a post on the BB that gave the Purilator air filter # that fits the holder (with minor trimming) and is waaaaaay cheaper that the $16. going price. On second thought, if I weren't so lazy I'd measure my old one and start opening Purilator boxes at Pep Boys.

The factory says 15,000 miles. I do take mine out in the fall, after the leaves, and bang it on the driveway. I figure every other year.

I changed the pollen filter on my 850 this spring - the PO had never changed it. Boy, was it in bad shape. I'm gonna say twice a year, maybe?
