front seats 850 1996

Hi,

My '96 850GLT is just over 200K. The driver side leather seat (electrically adjustable) is showing a bit of wear. The passenger seat (non-electric) is near pristine. Can the seats be removed from the tracks and swapped. Would it be cheaper to look for a junk yard seat.

Thanks,

hardwareruss

Don't know what the prices are in your area but here in SoCal I got a great non heated passenger seat for only $25. Mine are heated (yeah, like I really need it!) so I used the seat covering to repair my passenger seat cushion and the back covering to repair the drivers. The lumbar adjust knob hole is there but it's on the inside of the drivers seat and down pretty low so it's not too noticeable. Lots of sometimes frustrating hog rings to deal with but really not too bad a job.

How much is "a bit of wear"? I know I have severe cracking on the drivers side seating and some scuffing on the left side bolster, but as long as there isn't stuffing coming out, or severe rips, its probably not worth replacing a seat for. Unless the seat's cushioning is shot and the seat just isn't comfortable anymore.
