cleaning the engine of s70 t5 S70

i heard that the engine with the t5 doesn't liked to be cleaned. anyone have suggestions on how to clean it? i thought i posted this before, but cannot locate it.

i used to always just cover the dist. and the air intake, warm the car up, spray degreaser then power wash off grime and such. but that was on normal american v8's before i got a volvo.

any suggestions and why would a volvo specialty shop tell me not to clean it? what could go wrong?

also, headlight connector on passenger side has deteriorated, cracked and broke, can i fashion one myself or do i need to get a volvo replacement.

have not decided yet to sell or not. i love this car...

Headlight connector - buy new S70

You said your headlight connector is cracked. Why not simply buy a new one from your Volvo dealer and be done with it?

Headlight connector - buy new S70

Buy it from Tasca Volvo in Seekonk, MA

I had the same problem. Discount price with mail order. Headlight housing has to come out to change the harness, pretty easy job.

What you want to watch out for too is the spark plugs...don't spray on top of the engine. Water can get into the plugs and your car won't start, or if it does, it will mis-fire.
