The shift lever release button sticks in the handle and does not always pop out locking the ignition key in the lock. How can this be fixed? Any ideas out there on the list?

try spraying gear shift lock button with crc or wd40 ? if this does not work dealer can supply new gear shift knob assembly just unclip gear shift knob and push on new one (in australia part around $120.00) hope this info may help.
