Stubborn accelerator pedal S70

Since I've owned my car, my accelerator pedal has been harder to push down than other cars, and even other 98 S70s. Is there a way to adjust the tension or something? Can the throttle cable be loosened or something? Thanks-

I had a difficult and sticky pedal due to dirty throttle body bore.

    Matt,
Check the throttle at the engine by removing the cover and twisting the round thing where the cable wraps around. If that is fairly easy to turn, then check the cable guide where it goes through the firewall - inside of the car. You may have dirt or something at the top of the pedal hinge, it should not be hard to depress.

Yes, Klaus is right! Also check the play in the accelerator wire spool. I have taken my son's skateboard bearing spray lubricant and lubricated the wire on the spool as well as the little arms that hold that thing in place to loosen up my accelerator. The thing will get a coating of rust on it too and won't freely move, so some type of lubricant may be the answer and act as a protectant at the same time.
