air guide for 94 850 850 1994

Is there a metal replacement for the plastic air guide? This is the piece of
plastic that fits behind the front bumper and covers the bottom of the radiator.
On my '94 850 turbo wagon, the car sits so low it's easy to hit a curb while
parking and break it. Poor design by Volvo IMHO. Would appreciate any info on
this including any home made designs. Thanks.
Don in Denver.

IPD actually makes a aluminum skid plate but it doesn't replace what you're talking about...it fits behind it. I'm not sure if there's a replacement for it...at least I've never seen one. From what I understand, it's called an air guide (or air duct) because it routes air into the engine compartment in a specified and necessary manner. Also, the outside temp. sensor is attached to it.
