Toronto Area Reputable Used Volvo Dealer?

Hi,
I need to replace my 940T.
I've found a good independent Saab dealer (Beacon Motors), however I'm not familiar with any reputable used Volvo dealers in the Toronto area.
I'd like to stick with Volvo, however the price gap between a 1999 9-3 and 99 V70 is pretty significant.

I figured someone in here must have bought their 850/S70/V70 used, so I thought I'd ask.

: )

    reputable ?
I believe you have mistyped.........Klaus Canada is beautiful, wonderful, people are wonderful minus.............. car delears (but that on other hand applies probably to the whole planet)
In Guelph, there is an old volvo junk yard+shop called Hamilton Garage. In front of it he keeps quite a few late '90 models; recently some 2001 (new design) were spotted as well; apparently this guy is ok, he found s70 for my doctor

Jarrod just fixed the SHOPS forum so you can enter Canada. Please try adding Hamilton's garage to the list.

      No way!
I didn't know Hamilton's garage was selling newer stuff - mind you, my memories of it were driving past as a kid and then laying my first car to rest there an 82 240 DL.
I'll have to stop by some time,

The used car thing seems to be the archetypal yucky business.
Maybe I could change that - open a used Volvo shop and tell people they can take a car out for a test crash! (I survived because of my 740)

    Reputable??? Used Volvo Dealer?

Canada must be a wonderful place! Nowhere in the USA do the words reputable and used car dealer ever go in the same sentance, unless there is a not somewhere :)
I hope you are looking for a good independent Volvo mechanic. Did you try looking under "shops" in the select link pull down menue?

      Klaus,

Hamilton's is a most remarkable place; any dyed-in-the-wool Volvo owner would love it. It seems to get a mention in the RWD forum from time to time. It's a Volvo-only salvage yard that also repairs and services cars, and sells a few. It fronts on a busy road south of Guelph, with hundreds of old Volvos in various states of decay in full view, and no fence to screen it (at least that was the case the last time I was by). I can only imagine what the local property standards enforcement people must think.

I bought some parts (both new and used) there for my 740 there a few years back.

        Thank God for Canada

I stand corrected! It is probably the only honest place left in the New World. You folks in the Toronto area are truely lucky. I hope all of you tell your friends and keep the place open.
BTW, I dislike fences around "junk yards". It makes it too difficult to see all of the potential treasures. My wife hates it when I slow down so I can check inventories.

There is also APPCO "The Volvo Doctor" located on the same (Old) Hwy# 6 but on the west side, south of the junction with Hwy # 401, and much closer to the Hwy #5 junction.

The address is 805 Hwy #6 North, RR#2 Hamilton ON L8N 2Z7, but the location is far from down town Hamilton. Its much closer to Clappison Corners (Hwy# 5 & HWY#6 near the town of Waterdown,(which is now part of the regional municipality of Hamilton).

I have forgotten his name (its not on his bill) but the phone number is 905.689.4155, and the fax is 905.689.8949.

In January my son bought a 1989 740 winter beater (aka the silver slug) from him. He sold me the front 02 sensor #15097 for my 97 850GLT for 250.00 + taxes (list was $331.33 + taxes from Oakville Volvo). So far no compliants.

He does not seem to have a large inventory of cars outside, but I was told he has more inside. He does some maintenance work there, and is very helpful in providing advice if you want to do the work your self. He has some new parts on hand, and also has some wrecks from which you can remove parts.

I have bought used Volvos from Lang's in the west end of Toronto, and Bretton's in Burlington, and one from an owner in Simcoe, but the ones that I bought from Volvo dealers while costing more, may have been in better shape than the others.

          Hugh

            Thanks Hugh.

I didn't know about the guy north of Clappison's Corners. A bit closer to home for me than Hamilton's, and yes, Hamilton's certainly doesn't give stuff away.

Be wary of Hamiltons I've heard that they are way overpriced and the rwd folks don't speak to highly of them. Try Volvo Guys are viking garage in Toronto.
