Finally decided to bite the bullet! Couldn't take any more of my money-pit 850 turbo, and traded it for a nice new Subaru Impreza. Got fed up with the little things taht kept breaking or failing or both!
However will still be looking at this site while my wife keeps her beloved V70! After having been in a wreck with her 940 a year and a half ago, (she got rearende at a stopped at a red light)she is a more than confirmed Volvo owner - I don't think she'll ever change. So, thanks everyone for the excellent advice I received while I owned the 850.

well good luck with your subaru, My friend has a outback and loves it, I have driven in it its ok. I feel your pain but compared to a car payment I will drive my volvo till it dies, I have replaced everything on it that usually goes wrong and have maintained it well. im on a free ride now. after being in a accident in a volvo I will never drive anything else. kelly

I feel your pain! I know I should think about giving up my 850, but I just can't give up the comfort of the seats! Drove a rental car for business last week and realized (yet again) how comfortable the Volvo seats are...makes it all worthwhile!

    Congrats!

You'll never beat the plain reliability of the asian cars. I'm a beleiver most things that fail/last do so LONG before the first part is machined.
My old Volvo will be gone in about a month.....providing it runs that long to sell it!!

It's not that it takes alot of $$$ - which it does. It's that I have to drop it off at the service center and get a ride from there to work, and back. DO that every 3-4 months to keep me humble........NOT!

....put a price on "Pain in my Arse!"

I saw Subaru is offering a $0 down 48 month lease on the Imprezza for $199/month -- I'd be surprised if you could maintain any 10-year old Eurocar for less than that. I'm sure it makes an infinite amount of economic sense, but I betcha you'll miss the Volvo seats!

    Good luck!

Nice choice. Have you seen the TV commercial by Subaru that boasts about their highest safety rating, poking fun at the Volvo S40 among other makes....
