front speakers shorting in and out after engine swap..... 850 1994

so i bought an engine from vms, and had it installed. now my front speakers keep shorting out. they'll work for a minute, then fade away.....

any ideas what the problem would be? don't know why the engine swap would cause this, i guess it's just coincidence.

    My guess is coincidence since unlike the positive ground MGB, the 850 does not route ignition thru the heater fan, etc.
    My guess is that your "balance" control is starting to give out (SC-810 unit?)
    Try spraying some contact cleaner around the knob and see if it solves the problem.

    Yep, just a coincidence. Try unplugging the radio from the harness and hookup again. It may be nothing more then a bad contact at the harness. You may want to clean the contacts with electronic contact cleaner at the same time while going to the trouble. Make sure you have your code handy for reboot.
