tailgate door rattles 850

hey,

my tailgate rattles like crazy on my 850 wagon. it isn't the interior panel, its the entire door. i can watch it rattling when i hit bumps. the locking mechanism is very loose, the whole thing moves around pretty freely, should that be doing that? there aren't any bolts loose, it just has rivets from what i can remember right now. also, there's rubber bumpers around the bottom edge of the door, do those need replacing? this thing is driving me insane....

wagon owners take a look please and see if your lock mechanism is loose like mine. again, the assembly looks to be riveted together from what i can see, no loose bolts where it mounts to the door.

thanks
jason

Neither lock mechanism should be loose. Both are bolted on. The strike plate on the body takes a torx 40 driver in the V70. I dont have an 855. The door part is also bolted on, but you have to look under the panel.

6" of black electrical tape wrapped around where the latch attaches to the striker (between your two rubber bumpers) That will reduce alot of the rattles.
