Looking for used crossbars (I have the lengthwise bars) and possible holder for canoe/kayak to fit my x-country. Cannot find item on ebay .. any other ideas from the group where to find this? Thanks in advance.

    Hello, I don't have any information on OEM racks, but I just added a Yakima rack to my 2001 XC and have some parts left over from the rack that I used on my previous vehicle. To make the components that I already had work on the XC I bought a set of 4 Yakima Lowrider towers (rackattach.com $116) and used a pair of standard crossbars to set up my bike rack and canoe mounts. If you're interested, I have two extra long crossbars and a set of gunwale brackets for your canoe. You'd have to cut the crossbars down to fit reasonably on the XC, but mine look great and they have been cut to fit as well. Feel free to contact me directly if you're interested.

    sounds like you need the crossbars that span the factory installed roof rails. Volvo sells them, but they are simply a Thule product with the Volvo logo on them. You can order them cheaper from Thule.com or better yet, if you are an REI member, just wait till they have a members-only sale at your nearest REI and see if anyone returned these Thule items you need. I did that and saved a lot of money ($60 versus $220). The cross bars are seperate from the feet that mount the bars to your roof rails. You want the 58" cross bars.
