Tailgate strut for a 2001 Volvo V70

I have 2001 Volvo V70 and the tailgate fails to stay up when I open the tailgate. It is my understanding that the strut(s) may need to be replaced. I also understand that there is a new strut design for 2001. So, struts made before 2001 will not work on my vehicle.

I am trying to find instruction regarding the replacement of the tailgate struts. I would appreciate any help I can get.

In '01 V70 and newer the stut is referred to as a "Gas spring" It is volvo part number 30674494. They should be replaced in pairs. Call fcpgroton.com at 877 634-0063 and order from them for substantial savings over the dealer. Sorry but instructions wouldn't be available with the part, but it should be self explanatory.
