"Delicate" CMP? 850

I noticed in another thread a comment about the mistake of wiping out the CMP. I also recall reading that the CMP should be replaced after timing belt failure but I haven't been able to confirm this.

Is the CMP that sensitive? Should it be a first stop on the road to finding a no start issue?

Thanks,
Bryan

If you are referring to the camshaft position sensor it is not delicate. It works magnetically - no mechanical wear. Wiring to the sensor could be a problem though.

If your car will not start and you are sure there is fuel and ignition being supplied I would look into the MAF (manifold air flow) sensor. This is discussed in numerous previous posts.

Thanks for the response! I've considered the MAF. I'm going to see if there is a test for it. I replaced it recently but I've read in here that they are a bit touchy. I just can't buy parts I don't need so I have to be very careful about what I get - especially when it could be a number of things.

BTW - the CMP and the wiring are good.

      Thanks again!
      Bryan
