IAC: Idle Air Control Value (Control Slide) Relay location? 850

IAC: Idle Air Control Value (Control Slide) Relay location?

I was unable to start 850 after letting sit for 3 weeks. Replaced IAC (Idle Air Control Value) (Control Slide) with new unit based on info from forums.

Worked great started right up. Has been starting with no problems for weeks, until yesterday when had trouble starting. In this case had to turn over several times and then give gas. After that no problems. The dew point was very high believe may be the relay acting up.

During my prior search of forum found suggestion to replace relay for IAC (Idle Air Control)as can go bad "

The relay part # 3545803
By the way it's located on the plastic tray above the intercooler. I
had to pull the hose off to get at it.
Hope this helps someone"

So ordered relay based on part number listed.

My question is where specifically is the relay located? I have opened up the relay bay next to the fuse box under the hood. Is the relay in there if so which one is it? Is it the same as fuel pump relay? If not where is it?

Thanks for the help. Brent

    Brent,
Did that relay #3545803 make a difference in starting your car? I just called my dealer who does not have it in stock, but he said it is a fuel system relay and should not have any bearing on the IAC.

    Thanks,
    Klaus

      Klaus,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you have been tied up in the office. As to your first question did the relay #3545803 make a difference? In my case no. When I replaced it I did so as to “cover and the bases” I knew the IAC was getting power because I could hear/feel it running. It was not that expense ($20) so I put it in. As to it running the IAC I had the same question about which relay after read post on the Brickboard. So contacted: http://www.thepartssite.com/ after some searching they told me that the relay runs both the fuel pump and IAC. I never did confirm this. But to do so would be easy. Turn the key to run don’t start engine. You should be able to hear/feel the IAC running if IAC is not completely dead. If IAC is dead you would need to use volt meter. With key in run position and IAC running (ie: voltage present) pull the relay if IAC stop (voltage gone) then the relay is running the IAC and fuel pump. Hope this helps Brent

    Sorry for the delay...
If you haven't found it yet, the relay is :

"By the way it's located on the plastic tray above the intercooler. I
had to pull the hose off to get at it.

That means it is above the radiator, hanging on the plastic cover.
