Any advice on purchasing a driver's side lower cushion cover. Mine is cracking. Any dealer's that may discount or any suggestions on aftermarket?

I've used Leatherique products to restore the leather and, following the instructions and some practice, was able to achieve very good results.

Use either company's maintenance products to extend the life of the leather.

Find your self a spray bottle of leather conditioner. It will slow the process. It is best used when hot, but even works to help the dry leather in the winter time.

I finally looked. What I have is a taupe looking color. It is a cover for an S70 rear seat.

I have some taupe colored covers but they may be for the backs only. I look this evening.

Just for the record. My 97 855 drivers seat back is starting to crack with age. My wifes 91 755 with cloth looks like new! I once had a 10 year old Ford Taurus that was a piece of shit, but the leather seats still were industructable. What the heck is the problem with Volvo's leather? It seems that they cannot even cross the 8 year mark. Just go look at some used Volvos.

Volvo doesn't use buffalo hide like ford. You need to put lanolin on once or twice a year to keep it from drying out. Wait till the temp get to be at least 70F.

How about buying a passenger seat from a recycler and having a shop swap the bottom covers? Try erievovo.com

(BTW, I replaced the cloth bottom on mine with a new Volvo part and it took about 3 tries before they got the right one. Since Ford took over the Volvo inventory control, it's a logistical nightmare.)

All of our leather seats are cracking. The best thing you can do for the seats is to apply lanolin so that it stays soft.
There is no such thing as a cheap fix for cracked/torn seats. Makes me wish my car had cloth!
The dealers will farm out to an upholstery shop. Look in the yellow pages and visit as many as you can. Around here, about $500 for each bottom. If you live close to Mexico, it would be worth a weekend trip.
