Clicks in driver side door S80 2001

My 2001 S80 an intermitant clicking that seems to be connected to the power window / door lock / mirrow adjustment panel on the driver side armrest. Occasionally, when I open the door I will hear a rapid clicking associated with the power window / lock panel. When I turn on the engine, the clicking continues and the light in the buttons flashes. While clicking, the window buttons don't work. Evenutally, the clicking stops and the buttons come back to life. Has anyone had this experience? Is it the buttons or the power source to the buttons? Any ideas?

Thanks

Mark

When Volvo put the switches in the door, they forgot that rain water contains dust and will seep between the buttons and make a mess. Sounds like one of the contacts on the inside is not working correctly. Unfortunately, it is a sealed unit and cannot be taken apart.
You could take the assembly out and gently bang it upside down to see if any dirt falls out. Unplug it first.
