Anyone can give me some advises to understand why my rear door edge marker lights stay on all the time. Yesterday night, my alarm system woke me up and I think it might be the cause.
Also I have to turn the courtesy lights off because they also stay on all the time.

    Sorry for the delay, but I had to wait until my 854T was back home. I tried my doors, and the red light comes on, but only for the door that is open. Not both doors.
    Listen for the "click" from the switch as you close/open the door, keep the inside door handle in the open position, and you should hear a click when you close the door and when you open it again. Also, the foot well light under the dash should come on, but just on that side. The click is up close to the door lock.
    You may have a broken wire at the hinge, grounding out the light.

      I add temporarily remove the 2 bulbs to prevent battery discharge. Base on your advise, I performed the test as described and now everything work fine. I am now sure that all components work fine and suspect a broken wire somewhere.

    CI,

    The integrated micro-switch in the door lock assembly is either sticking or broken.

    Bay 13 (www.volvospeed.com) has repair instructions. But, unless you are very patient and handy you may want to simply replace the entire assembly.

    Several on-line vendors sell the part at a discounted price. Or, you may be able to find the part at a salvage yard.

      Bryan,

      Since the right and left door marker lights look to be link (lights from both sides come on when one door is opened), how can I determine which side needs to be replace?
      I was able to determine this by doing a test on my other 855 1997.

        CI,

        I'm not clear about your question. The warning light (red) will come on when the door is opened.

        How could you determine whether the light is on or off without opening the door in question? Opening that door would activate the light.

        The way to test is as follows: Manually press in the latch all the way to the locked position on the door and see if the light goes off. You release the latch by pulling out either the exterior or interior door handle and "flipping" out the latch with a small screwdriver.

        If you are talking about the courtesy lights in the overhead panel, that is the way it is supposed to operate.

        Please clarify.
