Sevice engine light V70-XC70 2001

I have a 2001 V70 2.5T the service engine light came on. I purchased a "Scan Gauge" to clear the Service Engine condition. When I plug in the Scan Gauge to read the codes and clear them it tells me that there are no codes to read. I when ahead and pressed the clear button in hopes it might work. To my dissapointment it did not. Can anyone tell me which TOOL I need to buy to clear the service engine light.
