Platinum plugs in 5 cyl engines - warning!!

There have been a few individuals on this board who have had catastrophic valve failure, requiring new valves or engines at considerable expense. I have found 3 people who have valve failure, and all 3 used platinum spark plugs! Seems like one of the tips will break off and get caught between the valve and the head.
PLEASE, check your car. Get the correct plugs.

I realize this may generate a lot of press, but I would rather not read another post about a dropped valve. Think about it,

Klaus

I've also heard that over-torqueing spark plugs can cause the center electrodes to break, any brand of plug. OEM Volvo plugs for turbo 5 & 6 cyl engines are also platinum btw.

Yes seems like it, platinum plugs from what has been said about them on this board over a long time are not worth using - stick to the volvo plugs.

On your other post (Tina's) I said you should start a thread about this...appears you have! Cheers! I hope plenty of people read this.
