Mystery vacum line???? 850 1996

I have 1996 850 N/A sedan. Just put in a new set of plugs, wire, cap & rotor. Went to put the air cleaner back together and the black vacum line connected to the top of the air cleaner box was disconnected on the opposite end from the box. There are 2 vacum lines on the Air box cover, 1 white and 1 black. The black line is not that long but I just cant find were it goes. Can some one tell me were it goes or trace there's down and let me know? Im really fustrated. Thanks

    Mystery vacum line???? 850 1996

Read last night on Volvospeed that this vacuum hose is just suppose to hang down in the engine well. Try that and see if there are any ill effects. I have the same hose that just hangs and never had an issue...can't find official documentation either to tell me where it does or doesn't go.

        Mystery vacum line???? 850 1996

Just stepped out side and looked under the hood of the 96 850GLT. There are two vac lines coming from the back of the airfilter box. The white line runs accross the front of the engine under the front cover above the intake manifold. The other is a black line approx 18 - 24 inches long that is not connected to anything. The vac diagram on the hood shows two lines coming out of the filter box, and it appears that both do hook up somewhere. It is really hard to determine where they hook up based on the diagram.

It would be interesting if anyone does have the black line hooked up.

There are two vac lines that run to the air injection system controller that is on the inside lip of the radiator shroud. One is purple and one white if i remember. There is also a well hidden vac line (black) that connects to the cruise controller under the battery tray. WOnder if that's it?

Wouldn't think so because if it were loose from the cruise control, then the cruise would not work properly and mine does. Strange...
