Passenger side leak 850 1996

Hello all -
I was driving back home for about 5 hours the other day after the holidays. It was raining out for mostly the whole time, and I noticed that the passenger side floorboards had become soaked with water about 3 hours into the trip. (It isn't the heater coil, so *phew*). It was soaked both below and on the hard plastic winter mats (with the lip) that I have in my car, so it certainly didn't come from just below. Upon closer inspection, it appears that water was dripping from the front of the car below the dash about 5 inches to the right of the heater vents down there. There are black streaks down the carpet.

Any thoughts as to what this could be, and what I should look for? I just installed a cabin air filter two weeks ago but made sure I put everything back the right way... Also, I checked the drain vents from the engine compartment... I didn't notice anything blocked. My passenger floorboard is still kinda damp, and considering the weather we have here in the 'cuse, it's going to be like that until Spring. Consequently, something like this happened about this time last year (although with a rear window seal) and I had to wait for warm weather to bake the car before the water was really gone.

Thanks for any suggestions.

make sure the cover fits over/under the windshield tightly. I had a little leak because it wasn't snug enough. Also check for errrant leaves and other dirt.
Take out the right side floor mat to help it dry. Have you used a dry vac to get up some of the excess water? Keep the heater directed to the floor, as hot as you can stand it.

Did you specifically inspect the drain under the center of the car which normally drains a/c evaporator condensate? Also do you have a sunroof which might be leaking to the floor in some indirect way?

I didn't inspect that specific one, actually, I sort of glanced over the closest drain pipe. I do have a sunroof, but the headliner and A and B pillars are fine.

I'll take a closer inspection with your suggestions.

May be wrong, but all I can think of is that the area under the hood, close to the windshield near that side has a way to run-off and it is clogged and therefore for a lack of place for the drain-off, the water is coming into the car.
