Idle Woes 850 1995

On cold starts my 850 idles at about 600rpm and lopes a little down to 500 and back to 600. Once the car has fully warmed up it idles high at 1100 - 1200 rpm . Any ideas?

Check the idle control valve, it is a little electrical motor
that opens and closes a little air channel inside the valve.
It controls the idle rpm when the throttle is closed. It gets its signals from the engine control unit. I cleaned mine on my 96 850 and it solved the problem for me.

I would look for dirty throttle body and/or stuck throttle plate or linkage, and/or dirty idle air motor. If stuck open these parts would let in too much air - possibly causing overlean mixture and idle speed hunting when could and too fast idle when warm. I assume you don't show a trouble code?

Maybe try replaceing the engine temp sensor. I understand it's pretty easy. Located under the engine top radiator hose.

what does the temp sensor show on the dash when the car is warmed up...would agree here if the temp is under the 3:00 mark when warmed up...in that case, I would also change the thermostat.

Both the thermostat and temp sensor have been recently replaced.

The temp guage shows 3:00, so I presume its ok

I do have a slight radiator leak though
