Lots of previous threads on tires for C70's but they were older posts and I couldn't "reply" to add more details.
2001 C70 Convertable, 63K miles, 17-inch tires. LOVE the car. Hate the tires. Had two blowouts with the Pirelli's, and I was only getting about 30K miles per set. Had to get new Pirelli's every time because the car was taken to the dealer for repairs each time there was a blowout. $230/per tire adds up in a hurry! Last set had 30K miles on them, the car was sliding all over the place, and one of the tires had a bubble in the sidewall.
Just had General Exclaim UHP's installed at $73/tire from Tire Rack. So far, so good. Not much road noise, good tread thickness, etc. Tire Rack gave them good write-ups, as did owner reviews. Understand the risk of "you get what you pay for" but at less than 1/3 the cost per tire but a name brand tire nevertheless, I figure it's worth the chance to see how they ride. They can't possibly be worse than the OEM Pirelli's, which bubble, pop, and wear out WAY too quickly.
Anybody else tried the Generals?
