Check engine light came on while driving. My son was the last to put gas in the car and is unsure if he clicked the gas cap. The car is driving fine.

I am headed for the gas station to put more gas in it now. Is there a way I can manually clear the code ? I am thinking the light came on simply because the cap was not put back on properly.

    Tighten the gas cap and keep driving...it that was it the light will go out on its own. If there is any deviation in drivability at all, go to an Autozone or PepBoys and have them read the code(s) and reset the light. They'll do it for free, or lend you the reader for a refundable charge. Report back on the code(s) obtained.
