Fairing and the Torpedo

I've searched the archives, so if this is a repeat I apologize.

I've got the Volvo load bars on my 1999 V70 AWD R. My torpedo style box extends past the fairing I mounted to the load bar.

I got 21+/- MPG from KY to FL running about 75 mph. Between the tanks of gas the first was high octane and the second tank was mig grade....according to the trip computer it was only about .5 difference in mpg.


Would I get better gas mileage if I removed the fairing?
